If You Haven’t Got Integrity, You Haven’t got Anything

“In looking for people to hire, look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence and energy. And if they don’t have the first, the other two will kill you.”

I usually include an Albert Einstein quote in my blog posts, as Einstein is a favorite source of wisdom and inspiration. But this one from Warren Buffet was just too perfect; I had to share it with you.

It perfectly illustrates my view of integrity as the foundation upon which all other character traits and behaviors are built.

It is no accident that “Act with Integrity” is #1 in Momentum’s Founding Principles, and our group’s belief in and practice of integrity is the primary reason I joined. (In one study, 95 percent of respondents said integrity was one of their organizational values.)

So many of our other key fundamentals are rooted in integrity, for example:

Integrity, at its core, is about respect — respect for others and your community, but primarily for yourself and what you hold to be true and important.

Having and demonstrating sound moral and ethical values is evidence of integrity and the basis of trust in personal and business relationships. But what you do when no one is looking is the true litmus test of integrity and demonstrates your respect for your own values. At the end of the day, it is to YOU that you are accountable.
