Service is 360 Degrees

Service is 360: We serve each other, our customers, and ourselves when we serve the community.  Demonstrate making a difference.

As we wrap up the holiday season, I feel it’s perfect that our organizational Fundamental this week is about giving to others and serving. It seems high on our priority list during the holidays, but what about afterward?

As we begin the new year, we have a clean slate.

Maybe you defined some goals to accomplish this year. We typically lean towards financial and well-being goals. What about defining service goals?“I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.”–Albert Schweitzer

At Momentum Consulting, we seek to serve our clients. That’s what our business is all about.

Service goes beyond a weekly call or meeting focused on executive coaching.

Service is also about supporting our community and reaching out to those in need not just during the holidays, but year round. It takes a particular mindset to drive our desire to help others. Once we shift into that mindset, it will get reinforced by how the experience feels.

Service produces gratitude and appreciation from both the giver and receiver.  This is the unexpected outcome that has me want to give more.  I also feel it’s humbling to remember we are all connected and at some point in our lives, everyone needs a helping hand.I just saw a saying today that says something like “there’s a difference between talking to someone when you have the time and making the time to talk to someone”.

The latter is what service is.There will always be something tugging at our time and availability. What would happen if we made a commitment to spending some time this year to serve someone outside our circle? You never know until you do it.

I love the energy the new calendar year brings. There’s hope, clarity, and excitement that comes with it. Take all that good energy and touch a life!“The high destiny of the individual is to serve rather than to rule.”–Albert Einstein

In service and gratitude,

Martha Lynn
